Quick Tip for BBQ Lovers

For all of you people who are not rich enough to afford a gas BBQ and have to rely on good old fashioned charcoal! When you've had your food and the ash is cold in the bottom of the BBQ scoop it into a bag and use it as slug and snail repellent around your plants. I do this every summer. It's eco friendly and cruelty free ... apart from the slugs getting a bit gritty! No deaths and no harmful chemicals!

@olliesmum Yes, people are fond of barbecues here although my husband reckons it's the ruination of many a good piece of meat.

@JudyEv I'd probably agree with him there. Many's the time Adam's cooked himself a steak which has dropped into the ashes. He just blows on it and eats it. It's at times like that I'm glad I don't eat meat!!!

I didn't know that. It's worth getting the charcoal even if you don't use it to bbq.

If you don't burn the charcoal it may work if you just crush it. Haven't tried it but don't see any reason why it shouldn't work.

That sounds like a good idea - and a great excuse for a barbie!

I think it's a tentative proposal that is quite conscious of the environment, congratulations, it's good that more people like you take some time to reflect on how nice it is to live green!
