My First Lupin

Although I've only got a small garden I desperately wanted lupins but usually they're so tall and take up a lot of room but I managed to find some dwarf ones. This is the first one of the season and is a very pale yellow. They certainly seem to attract the bees which is great, bearing in mind bees are on the decline. They are perennials so I'm hoping they'll survive the winter and come back again next year.

That's very pretty. Lupins are grown by the paddockful here as a crop. As far as I know they are always blue.

My dad had a flower bed full of lupins in all colours from deep orange, through red, to pink and white. I've got another one in the garden but it isn't flowering yet but I'd love it to be a little bit brighter.

It's not by design. Somehow it just happens.

Lupins are one of my favourite flowers but unfortunately they don't do well where I am on chalky clay. This one is particularly pretty with its pale cream and bright yellow.
