Someone decided this week is officially Moth Week. Works for me. I have many moth photos I have taken over the years I can share with you.
With more than 160,000 species of moths around the world, moths outnumber butterfly species roughly 10 to 1. Most moths only come out at night, with a few exceptions.
The hummingbird hawk moth in my garden is seen during the day. I love seeing this little insect. His wings spin like a helicopter going from bloom to bloom. This makes it a challenge to get a photo. But with some patience I got a photo in Dustin's garden on the butterfly bush.

I have been watching these moths for the past several days in the garden. Such cool insects. They have the same color as a bumble bee, but look more like a hummingbird, but smaller.
Have you seen one of these hummingbird moths before?

Thanks, it took awhile to get this one, they move so fast. Yes there are different kinds, There are several types including the Snowberry Clearwing Hummingbird Moth, the Sphinx Hummingbird Moth, and the White-lined Sphinx Hummingbird Moth and many more.

@CarolDM if I saw that in a garden I wouldn't even think it's a moth

@Marilynda1225 I know, they look like a cross between a bee and a hummingbird! Beautiful.

Yes, we've seen a hummingbird hawk moth before. It was an unusual sighting for us. I noticed it was on the Bing page today. Quite a great shot. (Equal to your pictures!) I don't see a picture here!

@LindaOHio Yes, it may be a little closer making it look bigger. They are smaller than a butterfly but bigger than a bee.

I have never seen them. I thought it was a bee at first glance.

Living in the wood all I have to do is turn a light on outside and see millions.
