Starting to Get Nervous

My UK employer has finally paid for my visa and I have my appointment for biometrics and embassy appearance scheduled on the 30th of July. I can feel my deployment closing in and somehow amidst the excitement, I have this nervous feeling. Self doubt is starting to get to me. What if I’m not good enough? What if I mess up? What if I get sent home again. It is a life defining decision. I have so much at stake it makes me shake.

It’s a new country a different set of rules and healthcare setup. It gets me apprehensive.

I do hope this goes well for you. It is normal to be a bit anxious about such a big step.

@kepweng I’ve been to Australia for study and work for 4 years and well a lot of overseas travel around Asia. But well like before I came to Australia I was also very anxious. I did not know what to expect and the culture. Well I know eventually I fell in love with the place and the people. I hope UK will be the same experience.

@flapiz I'm sure it will be - and I'm sure you're going with an open mind because of all your previous travel experience. That would be half the battle - to be prepared for things to be a bit different to what you're used to.

I think it's normal to feel a little nervous. I'd probably be feeling the same way. Just do the best that you can. I'm sure that things will go really well.

@flapiz I think what you're feeling is normal. I'd probably go through the same thing. Thinking positively is probably better.

Just think of it as a grand adventure. If it doesn't work out, you get sent home. It's not the end of the world. At least you can say you visited the UK! Who knows....things may work out great for you and you love it. Or things may not work out and you hate it. But either way, you gave it a try. At the very least you are trying to make a better life for yourself. Not everyone can say that.

Hahaha after being home for a year, I really don’t intend to go back home for a really long time.

@moffittjc Well that is true. Although at this age I feel like failure is not an option. That’s probably why I am super scared.

@flapiz Well, if it doesn't work out in the UK, come to the US. There are plenty of opportunities here!

Just have presence of mind. Ask those who were through with this how they managed the fear and scare. Also, pray and stay focus.
