Something tells me I wasted money yesterday when I bought my colonoscopy prep material. I went by the hospital today (since I was in the neighborhood, it was raining, and they have an indoor walking track between the buildings) to make sure I was pre-registered for my procedure, which is next Tuesday. (You've been warned: if I have a crappy outlook next Monday you'll know why.) Then they told me what my part of the cost would be, after insurance. Eleven hundred dollars. That's enough to empty my colon right there! I looked on my health insurance's website. They say they'll pay for a colonoscopy screening (the Cologuard thing, I'm guessing) with no cost to me. The problem is, I can't have that because there's a family history of colon cancer (my maternal grandfather and uncle). Oh, well. Time to set up a Go Fund Yourself account to pay for my crappy test. So sorry to hear that. I'll keep my fingers crossed and you in my prayers that you can get the funding.

The hospital is really good about this, realizing that not everyone has a thousand bucks lying around, so they'll let me put it on the installment plan.

They don't miss charging for some of these procedures. It's pretty outrageous at times.

That’s the hospital bill. Add to that the doctor, anesthesiologist, assistant, any biopsies, and I’m sure $45 for the cup of coffee they take to my brother while he’s in the waiting room.....

@FourWalls Ugh. After Vince was in overnight with suspected heart trouble, we had bills from doctors he can't even remember seeing. The bills were enough to give him heart failure but luckily our insurance paid for most of them.

What insurance will and will not pay for has always been a little baffling. Sorry you're having to deal with that!
