Did You Know: Celebrities who served

So in todays Did You Know I had said I would be talking about a bouncer and a rapper. Not sure if any of you had any idea on this one or not. Wait, a famous bouncer? Well let's get to it. Laurence Tureaud: More famously known as Mr. T or B.A. Baracus from the A-Team show from the 1980's. Mr. T was born and raise in my home town of Chicago although he grew up in the Robert Taylor Homes. He played sports in high school and got a football scholarship but was expelled after his first year. He joined the Army sometime in the early 70's and was honorably discharged. Although it's difficult to find out exactly when he joined, he did serve in the Military Police Corps and served out his 4 year contract. He went on to be a bouncer at some of the night clubs in Chicago and turned that into a body guard job which brought in in contact with some famous celebrities. He would then go on to play in 2 of the Rocky Movies, be one of the stars of the A-Team TV show to mention a few. Tracy Lauren Marrow: Better know as Ice-T or maybe as Detective Odafin Tutuola on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Ice-T was born in New Jersey but in the 8th grade he moved to the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles due to both his parents passing by the time he was 12. He would join the Army in 1977 to support his daughter and was stationed in Hawaii in 1979 when he received his honorable discharge. He would go on to be one of the first rappers and one of the original gangster rappers. He would later turn that success in to many others including an acting career. Although they were unlikely to have served, they did and we should thank them. Next time on Did You Know we learn about that mellow painter and the man who would not move to the back of the bus.
