I was having some official communication with one of my seniors, he has a habit of speaking in between, he doesn't even listen to the entire plot and jumps to the conclusion.
I was trying to make him understand the scenario that our client is facing, instead of understanding he is more interested in replying.
I mean first listen, then understand, then if required reply.....
Lately I have seen many people doing that. Their only agenda in the conversations are to reply, they listen to reply instead to understand.
Sometimes I really feel sad, why are people in so rush.... Why can't they lend an ear to understand

Its mostly because they would have already taken a decision on the matter so they wont listen to the words... instead they just come to the conclusion to support that their decision or perspective is right..I too have come across many people like this..

Its a very human habit and when we realize it what we are doing then we do our best to listen instead of jumping in everywhere in conversations.

Seeing as we learned it from others and since we learned it when we were very small its a hard habit to kick.

Listening requires a lot of maturity. And it doesn't give you to show up your presence or your importance. So people tend to not take it as an important skill. Most of people in this fast paced world are self centered and they want the limelight by making their points or being heard. Listening is just dying out
