Starting all over again, medical TMI

Last week Bob went to ER. Ended up getting catheterized. He had not been for six months. He had just seen his Urologist. Could not get in touch with the urologist. We kept missing each other's calls, so he went to primary physician yesterday. Took out catheter, reviewed how to keep from having a UTI and then was given a Rx and instructions to come back if he could not pee. Pee'd just fine, picked up prescription in the afternoon, began it after our evening meal. Went to bed. Could not pee, went to ER again. Got a catheter again. I am playing phone tag again. Starting all over again. For any who do not use these abbreviations here you go: Rx=prescription, TMI=too much information, UTI=urinary tract infection, ER=emergency room.

I hope that the phone call comes soon, I know how frustrating it can be waiting for an important call like that. One more to add to your list of abbreviations is URI=Upper Respiratory Infection. I used that term as well as the abbreviation in a post once and someone commented all about bladder and kidney infection information, but they missed both the long and short term break down on it. I hope that wasn't TMI.

I kept leaving voice mails, no result, BUT the nurse needed to call to set up a January follow up appointment and we set an appointment for next Tuesday. One of the other nurses tried to get me, did not call the phone I was expecting, and I missed him.

@GardenGerty ugh, don't'cha dislike all that when tryin' to get'n contact with those medical folk? sure gets my gander when i've got'ta deal with such. i'm glad ya were able to get'n 'ppointment relatively soon, hon. i'd be havin' a word with the urologist 'bout the unreturned phone calls. if'n they tried jest once 'n didn't get'cha, they should'a either hunted 'nother # 'r tried callin' 'gain.

Do they know where the problem exactly comes from?

The problem this time seems to be a UTI and dehydration causing swelling. It is not like it was before with lots of bleeding and clots. How was your husband's MRI?

@GardenGerty I am glad there is no bleeding at least. The MRI went fine, the doctor who did it has already sent the files to my husband's doctor, we will know next week where is the problem. The MRI doctor thinks it is an herniatic disc in his spine.

I'm sorry he's having trouble and needs a catheter. I hope the urologist can help when you stop playing phone tag.

Yes, I hope that what we have been told, that he likely got dehydrated and got an infection that cause inflammation and swelling is accurate.

That is too bad. I wonder why you were unable to get hold of his urologist. Hope he keeps from getting another UTI.

Veteran's Agency is very busy, probably thinking someone else is picking up the voice mails. I did finally get to talk to the nurse and we will go for an appointment next week.

@GardenGerty That must be so hard. One time he can pee and another he cannot.

Once they got the catheter in it was fine. We had the local primary remove the catheter, and started him on an antibiotic. He began having problems overnight again so we went to the ER again.

It is very likely he got dehydrated, developed an infection that is causing the current problem.
