Well, this a a brief story of how i meet my dog. Year is 2009, after my little dog Junior died from old age i was looking for another one to keep me company and my home needed a pet to bring us some good vibes, i'm one of those who thinks every home needs a dog.
For a lot of time i've wanted a Husky but since i'm pro-adoption i only had adopted mixed dogs, but then i found this guy on internet giving away husky puppies because he can't really afford to keep them, the thing is people have to go to his home in a very dangerous neighborhood in Maracay city, but i'm from Caracas (Venezuela) which is just as dangerous too so i didn't mind at all.
After asking a friend for transportation i called the guy and we set the next sunday for me to pick up the puppy, he gave me the adress and we're all ready. So the sunday comes and my friend pick me up early in the morning, we left about 7am and arrive Maracay about three hours later, after having some breakfast, and of course i had to pay for everything since he was giving me a lift, we start looking for the guy's house. The thing is he gave me just the name of the street and a reference, but no house number, no corner name, no nothing.
After a taxi driver told us how to get to the street, and warning us that is very dangerous, we get to a huge block full of colonial-looking kind of houses and i tried to call the guy but he isn't picking the phone. I didn't wanted to lose the trip so i get off the car and start knocking on every single house asking for this man whos giving away husky puppies. The street (called "calle nueva") is a huge line of about a kilometer and a half and that day the weather was sunny and hot, i think it was 34-35 grades Celsius, and there i was, ringing bells, knocking door at noon.
I did it on a side of the street and was on the return on the other side when a guy doing a barbecue on his front yard finally knows the guy i'm looking for, he gave me a cold beer (thank god), a glass of water and came with me to the door of the man. Turns out it was the third house if i would started on the oposite direction! This kind of things only happens in movies and cartoons i thought, but no ladies and gentlemens it happens in real life too.
Well, finally i found the place and after talking a bit with the guy about where i live and things he wanted to know to give me the puppy, he told me that the one he showed me was sick and he couldn't give me that one, so he look for the only one who wasn't sick (the heat gave the puppies a skin rash and had to go to the vet the next day), the little one start howling as does his mom, it was his mother saying farewell to him.
I call my friend to pick me up (i wasn't walking the kilometer and half back, no way) and we went back to his new home.
Me, as a role playing games fan, saw all of this as an epic quest, i still do. And the Puppy (i called him Iori) became my animal companion as the quest reward.
Thanks for reading my story, this is just the first of many others i had with Iori and i'll be publishing here. I'm using this stories to help me with my grieving process since he died this year of liver cancer and it hasn't been easy for me to live without him.

Thank you for sharing that with us. It certainly was an adventure and you were determined to get a puppy. That was nice that he was honest about not giving you the one you wanted. How is Lori doing? I had a lab-husky. She was so special and loved her so much. My cat and I live in a small place so we could not have a big size dog now. I really only want labs, huskies, retrievers and they are big size dogs and need room to run and to stretch out. It is fine for a cat.

I'm sorry to say that he passed away back in march 22, he had lost a lot of weight and wasn't as energic as he always was. After talking with the vet, she told me that he wasn't in pain yet but he would get worst whitin a few weeks, so the first i did was having a talk with him (yeah) and we were ok with let it him rest in peace after a great day at the park. I know is a pain to live in a small place, i do (but live really really close to the park), hopefully you can get a greater place to get all big dogs you want, but a cat is a great company too.
P.S: I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything like that, but the first letter of his name is a capped "i", Iori. Sorry for the rude correction.

I am so so sorry read that he passed away. No, I think this time around it is Sophie and myself. I understand what you were saying and I did not think you were a jerk at all. You were very nice. Now, I see why you said that. That is fine. I did not think you were rude at all. I am sorry if I made a mistake in the spelling of the name.

Well, it was ten years ago and i've keep contact with the guy since then. All his brothers found a home but one, the one that i was supposed to get in first place. His mom was a beautifull all white coat/blue eyed husky and i remember like it was yesterday the howl she made.
P.S: Is not my intention to be mean or anything, but the first letter of his name is a capped "i", his name Iori. I'm sorry for the rude correction.

Yeah he was a husky, but here in my country huskies are all mixed because of weather. Pure race Huskies can't survive the tropical heat.

6 months ago, we have rescued Choey and Spot. They're weak and skinny. Now they're cute and lovely.
