In December we are going to spend a week in the north of Denmark. We rented a holiday apartment in the building where my parents, my brother and I used to spend our vacation. When I was a teenager we were there every year, but I haven't been there much since that time.
I have many happy memories from that place, and it will be nice to spend some time there again. I am going to show my husband some of my favorite places in that area. We might go on a day trip to Sweden during our stay there. There is a ferry from the north of Denmark.
When I travel I usually visit new places, but this time we are going to go back to a place where I have been many times in the past, and I am excited about seeing the place again.

Yes, I have many happy memories from that place. My brother and I always had a lot of fun there. My husband doesn't know that area very well, so I am going to show him some of my favorite places.

Wonderful, I watched February for Finland. But transportation up there is a disaster. We have a direct flight only to Helsinki which is full, the second solution would be via Germany, with a transfer time of 5 to 9 hours which is very tiring...still looking for the best solution

@LowRiderX Lapland sounds interesting. I have only been to Helsinki, and I don't know anything about the local transportation in northern Finland, but I think that it would be an interesting place to visit.

I hope you find a solution. I would prefer to avoid transit time of 5 or 9 hours, but I would accept if it was the only option. What do you want to do when you arrive in Finland? Will you stay in Helsinki or visit other parts of Finland?

@Porcospino No, I was looking at the northern part, Lapland. Getting to Helsinki is not a problem, at least not a big problem

I am glad that you are going back to the place you spent vacations with when you were a teenager. It will be lovely if you can take a day trip over to Sweden for a day. It is charming to visit places with happy memories of the past. I was able to re visit the medieval town of Cesky Kromlov in the Czech Republic. Wow!

@Porcospino Prague is a very beautiful city full of old charm. It has got more expensive and popular over the years. I first went there in 1996. I am pleased that on your trip you knew the ferry times.

@maximax8 I was there a few years later than you (1998) I enjoyed my visit very much and I did a lot of sightseeing. I also think that it is a very beautiful place. I would like to visit other parts of the Czech Republic in the future.

I look forward to visiting the place again. I have so many happy memories from that place. We found some information about the ferry connections, and it is possible to visit Sweden for one day if we leave early in the morning. I would love to do that. It is nice that you were able to visit Cesky Kromlov again. I have read about the place, but I have only been to Prague.

It is exciting to visit places again especially places where we have many happy memories. My brother and I had a lot of fun at that place, and I can't wait to visit the place again. The is very close to beach. We are going to visit the place in December so swimming is out of the question, but it will still be nice to go for a walk there.

@LadyDuck I also prefer to avoid tourist places when they are crowded. It is not nice or relaxing when there are so many people everywhere. The place in the north of Denmark that we are going to visit is also a tourist place. I have been there in July in the past, and it wasn't nice at all. December will be much better. Some of the shops etc are closed in the winter months, but I can live with that, because there are other advantages like the quiet atmosphere without lots of noisy and drunk tourists.

@Hannihar Yes exactly, I really look forward to that. My husband doesn't know that area very well, so it will be nice to visit some of the places together. We are going to the visit that place in the low season. That is nice because in the summer months there are lots of other tourists.

@mrki444 That sounds nice. One of my Danish friends spent his vacation in Croatia some years ago, but I don't remember the names of the islands he visited.

Yes, it will be very nice to see the place again. There are many tourists during the summer months, but things are much more quiet in the winter.

It is interesting that you have ancestors from Denmark and Sweden
The first time I saw your profile I noticed that your last name sounds Swedish. It also exists in Denmark, but it is more common in Sweden.

@Porcospino Yes my Great Great Grandfather David Hermanus Bergstrom was from Sundsvall, Vasternorrland, Sweden and he married a gal who's family was from Todse, Thisted, Denmark. I still have family back in Sweden and Denmark.... maybe someday i will venture to places they we're from.
