Georgia Police Catch Cell Phone Users

Even though more and more states are making it illegal to text and drive, people continue to use their phones while driving.
Atlanta, Georgia, police dressed as construction workers to catch people that were using their cell phones while they drive. In a 3-hour period they issued 60 tickets in Cobb County. The Georgia State Patrol issued nearly 25,000 tickets during the first year of the Hands-Free Law.
The 1st ticket costs $50, the 2nd $100 and the 3rd $150. Distracted drivers killed 3,450 people in 2016.
Traveling at 60 mph you miss 88 feet of road for every second that you look at your phone. Reading a text takes about 4 seconds; and you miss 350 feet of road which is longer than a football field.
Do you think that a $150 fine is severe enough for a 3rd time offender? What would you suggest?

I thought so too. $150 for a 3rd offense is like a slap on the hand. There's no real punishment.

That is a clever idea they did in order to catch them.

I think they need to start with more than 50 and by the time you get to a third offense community service plus heavy fines at least

It should be like when get a ticket while driving drunk. The person should loose their drivers license after so many tickets.

it's SUPPOSED to be illegal here..but they rarely enforce it.
i saw a woman going down the street one day with not one,but two phones going.
one on each shoulder.
that fine should be bigger.they're gonna get someone killed.
