California Vacation! / myLot

Hi! I haven't posted much in the past two weeks because I've been on vacation. It's the first real vacation I've had in five years. I'm in Northern California visiting my dad and step mom. I've been here since July 27th, will fly home tomorrow. The pic was taken when my husband and I went to Monterey, traveling on Coastal Highway 1. It was absolutely beautiful. Since I grew up in New Mexico, and have lived in Missouri since age 18, I've only been near the ocean a few times in my life. I am fascinated by it! While on our drive to Monterey, we stopped at a fast food restaurant. We could see the Pacific from our booth. I felt like running up to the cashier and yelling "Do you realize that's the OCEAN right there?! It's RIGHT THERE, within walking distance!!!"

LOL I restrained myself from doing that.

Some things might be "no big deal" to one person but spectacular to another.

so glad ya got to go'n this trip. i'd not been able to refrain from tellin' the cashier 'n whome'er else 'twas there 'bout the closeness 'f the ocean. when one's 'round schtuff all the time, they seem to take't fer granted. sometimes needin' to feel the 'xcitement given off by a new set 'f eyes.

@BloggerDi yer welcome :) 'tis a shame folks get numbed to the beauty which surrounds. perhaps they need to take a few moments 'n renew their love/'ppreciation 'n awe 'f that "magic"? so much's taken fer granted these days.

@crazyhorseladycx Absolutely! I try not to take any beauty for granted, but I allow myself to get distracted by life sometimes. Beauty comes in so many forms. It's good to be reminded of this!

Thanks! You're right @crazyhorseladycx. I did mention it (in a calmer way) to one lady who lived there. She admitted that she's just used to it.

That is very true, one thing could amaze one of us but to another it's just the "usual". When we moved here to Georgia I was and still am amazed by the animals that are so close to where ever you go. You drive down the road and see goats, horses and cows! I never saw that before moving here. =)

I've lived in farm areas a couple of times in my life. I enjoy seeing all the animals too! Thanks for your comment @LovingMyBabies.

I was born and grew up in the Philippines and we are surrounded by oceans and beautiful islands. And still I am amazed each time I see a beautiful sea or any bodies of water like a lake, river, waterfalls. So I can just imagine how you were feeling. Last week, I went on a four day vacation and I visited a very beautiful island, then I went to another place with waterfalls and a really beautiful beach. It was a great four day trip and even if I had to drive for hours, it was all worth it.

I like the picture too! That area would be calm and one would enjoy walking there for a while. I stay approx. 56KM away from sea But still never been at beach. I would love to visit one.
