The other evening I was at the bottom of the garden with Adam looking out over the meadow. I then noticed that the elder tree we have growing just outside our garden and which arches over our 'gateway' was showing some nicely ripening elderberries. I put my hand up to touch the berries when Adam shouted at me to stop. I couldn't see any reason why I shouldn't touch them but then he pointed out a blue dragonfly on the little bunch of berries. We watched it for a while and couldn't work out whether it was sucking moisture from the berries or whether it could see some little bugs which couldn't be seen through normal human eyes. Whatever it was doing it was a delight to see and Adam managed to get this photo of it before it 'went to bed'!
