1892 - Edison receives a patent for the two-way telegraph.
1944 - Sam Elliott was born. He is an American actor and producer. His breakthrough movie was the Lifeguard. Some of his other films: The Quick and the Dead, Conagher, Buffalo Girls, Gettysburg, Tombstone, The Hero and A Star is Born. In 2016 he starred in the Netflix series, The Ranch.
1957 - Melanie Griffith was born. She is an American actress and producer. Movies include: Body Double, Something Wild, Working Girl (see below), Buffalo Girls, Milk Money, Mulholland Falls and Disaster Artist.
