Cuckoo Clock - a memory

I got a cuckoo clock when on a tour of Europe. This shop was manufacturing them in the shop and selling them at the same time. I picked the one with a natural look. It was in the region of the Black Forest, Germany. It chimed perfectly for a while but does not any more. It shows correct time though. This shop is designed to look and work like a Cuckoo clock and tourists saw to it that they were present there around 12 noon to hear the cuckoo strike 12 and the dolls dancing. We were there too. It was a great memory.

I do not remember having a cuckoo clock at home. However I do remember having a grandfather clock.

I love cuckoo clocks. My mom had one when I was small. I believe her sister sent it to her when they were stationed in Germany. I wonder what happened to it. I bought one a couple of years ago that I need to get a pendulum for and one weight. It is also made in Germany and an old one. Thank for reminding me.

This particular shop in the Black Forest attracts tourists mainly because their shop is built to work like a cuckoo clock

My parents had one that they had bought in the Black Forest region. The European cuckoo birds sound is exactly the same as the clock. There is one on a tree near the house, it drives me crazy.

You have mentioned this earlier too. Our Indian cuckoo sound is different. And I love them. We have loads in our garden.

@LadyDuck Poor thing. You must put up with it It is only doing what nature has suggested it to.

@allknowing There’s a shop that specializes in them if it ever breaks. Perhaps you need to exchange yours for another on another trip to the Black Forest.

If the chimer worked for 40 years that was a great clock. Our chimer conked out before 40 months (lol)
