Another shot of Beringbooding Rock

We are in Merredin caravan park tonight and tomorrow we head out to the property where a horse endurance ride is being held on the weekend. We have charged up all the camera batteries as we’re taking photos over the weekend. There is no house on the property but there is a shed and a toilet. We have our own toilet and a shower in the caravan. The stove and fridge run on gas and there is a battery which runs the lights and the water pump. Vince has also installed a heater which runs off diesel fuel so we should be quite comfortable. The weather forecast is for cold weather with the chance of some rain. We’ve had heavy rain this afternoon. I’ll add another photo from Beringbooding Rock. You can see the rock walls which were erected on the rock to channel rainwater into a big tank. Can you see the pretty white wildflowers on the left?

The snakes would be easy to see on the bare rock. There would have to be a few around in that area.

All the horse people are set up pretty much as we are but some are a bit more primitive. Some bring generators so they have power. And most have units that give warm water so they can wash their horses down between the 'legs' of the ride.

@JudyEv the welfare and comfort of the horses is obviously a major priority. I expect they get thirsty and dusty on such a long wilderness trail

@arthurchappell There are watering and feed points at least every five kilometres and at the moment the country isn't too dusty as it's winter.

That looks like something MrsJ would trip over on a late night stroll to use the "facilities".

beautiful wild flowers! what'd be that yellow bushes'n the back, ms. judy? i don't envy y'all the cold, but 'm sure the rains're much needed. y'all're most handy 't this caravanin', so know yer well prepared fer whate'er the weather brings. thanks fer sharin' the wall part 'f this project. 'tis most interestin' the materials used 'n thought that went 'nto constructin' such.

That wall definitely wasn't built for beauty but for more practical reasons.

There is a lot of wall on that rock. It must have taken a while to do it all.

The clump of flowers looks small there, but I see them. It's hard to put those larger while showing the rest of the section of rock. Does the water move down this side of that wall?

The water drains off all sides of the rock and runs down till it hits a wall. The wall is constructed so that the water all runs round to the one point and goes into a tank.

It's nice to be able to camp in a patch of wilderness without having too much to put up with, especially as we get older.
