Yesterday, I Learned about the Floating Hyoid Bone

One of my trivia questions yesterday was about a person's skeletal system. They gave a list of 5 choices to make, 'the only free floating bone in the human body.' I answered a rib, because our bottom ribs aren't connected to any other bones. Nope, I was wrong! The only free-floating bone in our body is the 'hyoid bone', located around the front of our throats. This is news to me, I've never heard of this bone, in my entire life! Did you know about this free floating bone, before reading this today? Photo: NOT MINE

I've heard that name on several TV shows but it's never occurred to me to look it up. Now I will.

I was always interested in science, when it came to the human anatomy. We had a wonderful science teacher, Mr. Hickman. He was very strict, but an excellent teacher!

No. It's a 'free floating bone.'
