Somehow a wasp got into my house. He was sleeping inside a foll of toilet paper.
I disturbed him, although I did not see him.
First aid for stings at my house is first to mash or grind or chew up some plantain leaves. I did that. It made it not hurt nearly so bad.
I soothed it even more by putting CPL cream on it. Calendula, plantain, and lavender. The pain from this creature, which may not have been a wasp but a yellow jacket is a burning hot pain.
Laslty, I took a benadryl (anti histamine) to make sure I did not have an allergic reaction. It is fine now.
The benadryl (diphenhydramine) made me really sleepy, though.
I hope you do not run into any stinging insects.

About two weeks ago I was stung by a wasp. I was putting trash in the container and it disturbed some and they came at me landing and chasing. One stung my arm and it sure burned. I still have the welts and it itches at this stage. I immediately headed back to my cabin to wash the area to remove venom and check for a stinger or issues. I got the weird feeling that courses through but it didn't get bad. I iced it for over an hour.

It may have been something else, like a hornet or yellow jacket. I hear they get very aggressive. It all stings. Taking an antihistamine is good first aid. It sounds as if you have some sensitivity to stings. I hope you are all right.

@GardenGerty Thank you. I am OK. It was a wasp. One of those that look like a stingray. That is the only way I can describe this type. It's an orangish yellow and has that tail thing hanging down.

We've had one get in ours before. It made it's way from the front door all the way through to the kitchen and then to the den. Luckily no stings here, but I'm glad you took care of your sting. Benadryl always makes me sleepy, of course unless I need to sleep, and then it doesn't work.

@GardenGerty I am sure it was. I try to take it before bed, if I need to take it at all. That way I get the benefit of the medication without disrupting my day.

I am okay, thank you for asking. No swelling even. Plantain is a great natural treatment for stings.

Sorry that nasty wasp creature got you. Many moons ago in Latvia, we had wasps crawling over out pears that dropped from the tree. One fine summer day I was picking up the pears when I grabbed one wasp and all. It got me right in the palm of my hand and I had a puffed up hand I could not even make a fist. I was then giving English lessons at home and a smart little girl told me her grandpa said to take a raw onion and cut it and squeeze up some of the juice then rub it on the wasp sting. I did that for a few days and they puffiness all went away along with the pain.

@gardengerty You really ought to have a sign in your toilet warning of wasps like the one @judyev showed us for snakes.
We’ve come across some interesting places on our two-week mini-vacation. A few days ago, we passed farm which has hundreds of hectares of trees planted. These...

I bet not. I had not had any stings from bees or wasps for probably fifty years, until I moved here.

It is good for many wounds and injuries. Do you use it as a poultice, or some other way?

I always make a paste with baking soda and water. As it dries it draws the poison out.

It sounds like you treated it successfully. As many stinging wasps and other insects that are around here, I am amazed I have only been stung a couple of times in all my years here.

I was watering my Peace Lily on he deck yesterday and there must be a red wasp nest inside because about 10, maybe more flew out. I just stood still and they flew off.
Hey! I used plantain oil on poison oak and it went away!

Plantain is very good to kill pain. I think I heard it will also fade age spots. It is just a good all around plant. Our friend @changjiangzhibin89 says they use it for gout in China.
