Old Glory

Old Glory, The Stars and Stripes, The American Flag, The US Flag... Whatever it's name, it represents many things to the American People. We pledge allegiance to it as young children in school, at certain functions, during times of turmoil etc etc etc. I recall, many years ago when I was in school, that we would say the pledge of allegiance and sing the national anthem before we began our school day. The principal would lead us in the pledge and we had to stand and put our hands on our hearts as we gazed upon the flag. I found these pictures with information on how our flag has evolved along the years. I thought it might be an interest to some.

In schools I went to, we did the pledge, sang a Christian hymn and had a prayer every morning. That was before they kicked God out of everything and the country started sliding downhill.

@akalinus Exactly, I just see no reason to discuss it is all. You are entitled to your opinion of course, I just don't necessarily agree with you. Which is fine. America wasn't built on the opinion of just one person, after all.

I thought so too.I think I like the design of the flag with the 13 stars to denote the colonies the best.

@LovingMyBabies Yes the eagle one was really nice too. I thought it would be nice to have as a current flag. I think mot flag staffs have an eagle on the top of it.

I recall saying the Pledge of Allegiance each morning at school when in grade school. Interesting photos. Thanks for sharing.

We said "under god" as well, I"m not sure if they still say it in every state. If they do, they probably do not say "Under God"

I love it and too many presidents have soiled it by taking out everything it stood for to us as children. thank you for this tribute.
