Why do we need cable tv service

With so many free apps out there and a few paid ones that are not really expensive, Why would anyone spend close to a hundred dollars a month? I just downloaded another free tv and movie app that someone told me about. You do need internet to run these apps but the cost of internet is not really a lot and even if you upgrade to a little higher speed so no buffering occurs is the icing on the cake. As of this current month, I have saved just about eight hundred dollars from not having cable tv service. As for local channels, I plugged the cable wire in the back of my television and did a channel search. I picked up the same channels that cable would offer at the low basic price and a few digital ones that are not even offered on cable. This can work for you too pending on how your wire is hooked up. I know for a fact , it will not work with a satellite dish. One of these days, cable tv service will be a thing of the past. Photo credit: google

@Metsrock69 Because I do not trust apps and do not like to use my phone so I have Netflix. Also the cable I had here in Israel was so bad that when Netflix came here I got it. Netflix has a variety.

I agree. Have you ever tried getting a firestick or other streaming device?

I know cable/satellite will eventually go but it's still worth it to me. I cannot get my local sports teams otherwise for starters. Plus streaming is too incredibly unreliable. Every person has their own entertainment needs. Free app fare tens to have nothing but old stuff I have seen or don't wish to see and Netflix and its ilk the same thus not worth even their cost to me.

I'm ready to get rid of my cable too. It's just not worth the price anymore.

I don't like the streaming devices or apps at all. I enjoy shows and movies on my big screen tv.

You can hook up a streaming device up to your tv . All you need is wifi.
