Stephen King is famed for his freaky supernatural stories. The scariest of his tales to me though, is "Cujo", which was made into a film in 1983. Why? Because it's about a St. Bernard who goes bat crap insane after contracting rabies, and unlike Stephen's other work that I've read or watched over the years, a scenario like that in Cujo is actually plausible to a great degree.

@jnrdutton I have read some of his work but I am not really into him and then now reading about a St. Bernard going insane after rabies that is horrible. I am sorry that makes me very angry to let that happen to an animal. If nothing can be done for the dog after getting rabies then put the dog down. Yes, My dog got rabies and I tried everything to make her ok so I had to put her down and I have felt horrible from then on because I loved my dog so much and wish it never happened to her.

I noticed in the early part of the film, the dog was chasing a rabbit, then it (the dog, not the rabbit) got swarmed by bats and got bitten by one (thus contracting the disease.) I had to wonder the whole time where the owners were that they weren't paying attention. I agree it's horrible. In regards to your dog @Hannihar, I am sorry your dog got rabies.

@jnrdutton You are right where were the owners. I hate when owners send their dogs out by themselves. Why do they even have a pet if they will not be responsible for them. Thank you for your kind words about my dog. She was very special.

If the owners were present, there'd be no movie. I don't care for it because I love dogs; and I hate to see this dog go bat crap insane.

I saw the movie many years ago. Haven't read the book. He mentions Cujo in Pet Sematary which I read a months ago.
