Well if you are a fan of Star Wars then you must know her. But this discussion is not about her but it's about me. I was having some cold symptoms and I felt that I was having some headache when I decided to take Advil. I normally don't take medicine but I don't know why I decided to. And after an hour I look like Maz Kanata. My eyes began to swell and my face too. I also sneezed a lot and my eyes were itchy and teary and red. I didn't know I'm allergic to ibuprofen! But now I do. I find it strange though because I used to take Advil as my pain meds and it's only now that my body reacted negatively to it. And yes I already took cetirizine. I just hope that my face would go back to normal fast because I need to go out today. Are you allergic to anything?

I've read about that, how people can be allergic to penicillin too. It was listed along with ibuprofen.

@Hannihar That's good. I have only become allergic to ibuprofen recently and I need to get an ID tag for that.

@toniganzon I have been allergic for ages. I have something that says I am. They have other things that can be given if one is allergic to it.

Oh so sorry you had allergic reaction to Ibrupofen. I guess you can just take paracetamol for pain relief. They may not be as good as Ibrupofen but they can relieve pain too. I was allergic to certain types of crabs when I was a child but now I can eat crabs I think there was something in that crabe that made me allergic to it. But most meds are good in me I can tolerate most of them when I take them.

I am usually not in pain and I normally don't take meds. So I am ok if I don't see ibuprofen ever again. My husband is allergic to seafood.

@toniganzon I see... Stay away from it for a while because there are times that your tolerance on it would come back and can take it again sometime in the future. My allergic reaction to that certain type of crab did happened to me once only and when I started eating crabs again there was no reaction anymore to this day. I think that crab has something in it that made me react. That was the last time I remember having an allergic reaction to any food.

@rsa101 I'm not really into pain meds so I would certainly not see any ibuprofen even forever.

So far, I haven't found anything I'm allergic for. I suggest that if you can live with the pain, and get used to it, maybe it's the best thing you can do. Pain relievers are addictive, the body need the more and more and if it doesn't get them, it can have stronger pain.

I'm someone who normally doesn't take any kinds of pill most especially for pain. So I can live without seeing any pill medication.

@stringer321 Never been addicted to any pain relievers. My entire life I could actually count how many times I took them because I rarely do.

Yikes! So sorry! Allergies can happen so suddenly. That happened to me with Cipro or ant antibiotic containing it. It’s now on my medical records and pharmacy NOT to be given to me in any form.

I do not have allergy before but I think 5 years back then, I experience to have one. I have this prawn sinigang which is one of my favorite dish. After my dinner, I wonder why I have itching in my chin which I thought maybe bitten by small ant. It spread over and why the tightening on my face. When I look at the mirror, there were rashes all over it.I took Cetirizine then.

Last year I have a discussion where advil gave me a weird allergic reaction ,That should have been a warning. I remember having Angelina Jolie Lips and Quasimodo eyes after taking advil. I guess I am not the only person here who is allergic to Ibuprofen. I use aspirin and menthol sticks and ointments for headaches after my advil allergies.

I'm not the type of person who actually takes a pill when I'm in pain. But that particular night, I had no idea why I took Advil.
