The president of our country passed some laws on ‘increasing’ the salaries of teachers and nurses. We are all excited, and I, being the oldest among the clinical instructors, voiced out our notion to our clinical coordinator re ‘possible increase of our salaries’, since the one we are receiving now has been our rate since 2007 yet.
My colleagues kept on pushing me to bring out the topic when we had our first meeting. Unfortunately, our dean was out so he, our CC, listened to our sentiments.
I laid the cards on the table, and we received some positive responses. By ‘positive’, I mean our CC said the idea is already tackled on the dean’s meeting with the vice president and acting president. While there is an influx of level 1 and level 2 nursing students this school year, there is also an increase in tuition fees, so with that idea, we thought we, part-time clinical instructors, should also be given what is long overdue us.
Well, we will be receiving our 3 day-salary lext week for this week’s school activity and hopefully, we will see our pay envelops the expected increase in our salaries.
(I also brought out the idea that this is my last year to work, since it is my 15th year, and I will be 60 this November, but our clinical coordinator and program coordinator said that I could still have 2 duty days after I retire, if I still want to work).
