A well-built sign - pity about the spelling

I’ll split this into two as it’s a bit long for one discussion.
When travelling through country Western Australia, we came across this tiny grave-site. Between Beacon and Mukinbudin, we turned off towards Wattoning Homestead which was listed as a tourist site. However, we stopped on the way at the graves and in the end didn’t go any further.
There were three graves. One was of the pioneer settler who owned a property he named Cleomine. This is where the mechanical galloping horse is that I wrote about last week.
The second grave is that of Darcy Ives. Darcy’s father, Alfred Ives and his family, came to live in the Wattoning Homestead in about 1890. His wife was a well-read, well educated young Englishwoman and quite wealthy in her own right. Two of their children were born at Wattoning. Darcy was born in 1882, only to die of dysentery aged 13 months. Unfortunately the signage on the information panel shows him being born in 1982 and dying in 1893! The word ‘Cemetery’ on the signpost is also spelt wrongly.
I’ll tell you about the third grave next post.
Wouldn’t you think that signs to tourist attractions would be checked and rechecked for errors?

'tis odd they'd 'dvertise such's a tourist site if'n all there'd be's those few graves? horrible 'bout the dates'n that wee'uns year 'f birth. i fear i cannot judge anyone'n their spellin', particularly these days, lol. one'd think though that somebody's no doubt mentioned such, yet nobody wishes to be out the funds to correct either.

@crazyhorseladycx We had the caravan in tow. If we'd been just in the car it would have been different.

It indeed leaves a bad taste in people's mouth .They should proofread them before built the signpost.

I guess it would depend on when the sign was first made and how.

so cool, love the spelling. Now, in terms of his being born in 1982 and dying in 1893 did you not see the movie Benjamin Buttons?

Incorrect spelling drives me crazy. Once I notice it, that is ALL I notice (too bad I rarely notice my own mistakes until months down the road). That child lived 99 years in reverse. I wonder if something like that gave Fitzgerald his idea for the Curious Case of Benjamin Button...

Someone else mentioned Benjamin Button but he is a stranger to me. We're always finding mistakes. They can really spoil an experience - at least they do for those who notice them.
