The Biblical Flood features on quite a few pub signs. It pleases nearby churches as a reminder of the faith, while also pointing out that the pub is a great place to shelter in a heavy storm, staying dry and drinking until the sky clears. Noah’s Ark signs depict different stages of the story, from ark building, the deluge itself, to the Ark landing and the passengers disembarking with the rainbow in the sky. This very detailed sign presents the animals, mostly mammals, boarding the Ark in a rather orderly fashion, getting on a boat that could not possibly accommodate them all.
