I have not had any hard liquor in ages so when I saw this recipe I thought I would share it with you. It is just the kind of recipe that you can make and then you and your friends can have the tomatoes and you can say that the tomatoes are the ones that are drunk or keep the alcohol a well-hidden secret. Of course, depending on whether you are interested in trying this or would rather not.
All you need are some nice cherry tomatoes and put them in a bath that is a combination of vodka, vinegar, sugar, and lemon zest. Then just let the tomatoes swim in there for an hour. Afterward all you do it stick each one with a toothpick and set them on a plate as an appetizer. Have a small dish of salt and pepper nearby to dip them in and enjoy.
This brought back memories of my young days when my friends and I would pass around a large watermelon filled with lots of good things including vodka and if ice-cold great on a hot day. If I had anyone to share with now at least a group of friends I would try this little treat but keeping in mind its loaded contents.
Does anyone want a drunken tomato?

@RasmaSandra I wonder if a sugar substitute could be used. I don't eat sugar.

@Tampa_girl7 I think you could use a substitute. There is a lot of information on this on the net. I don't use sugar either but when it comes to recipes like this I do add the sugar if it calls for it.

I don't even want a sober tomato but a hot tomato is something else again.

I would love to try it but I don't really know how to prepare it even when there's a recipe.
