I decided to stop feeding stray cats

Last week another cat disappeared. It was the mother of the kittens. This is too much for me. I spent money, I treated them. All for nothing. I had a special bond with this cat. She was very special to me. My mother doesn't want to help me. She refuses to ask the neighbors if they saw her. I can't get out of my house if I am not with her. I will not get out to feed the stray cats anymore. I don't want to suffer when they disappear. It's better if I don't see them anymore. Do you think my decision is good? What would you do if you would be in my place? I get attached to them and they all disappear. Is there a way to avoid being attached to them? I can't be like a stone. If I go every day to feed them I get very attached to them.

I am sorry for them. But it's sad to lose them.

I understand why you feel that way and it's normal.

" enjoy a good thing while it lasts " we need to be emotionally prepared for anything but it's easier said than done I could understand.

Yes. We can't be prepared. I had this cat for a year. She was young.

I understand you very well, I cry when the cats I love disappear, but I cannot stop feeding them.

@dya80dya I have the same problem, when the cat of my neighbor was killed by a car I cried all the day.

I am sorry for those cats. They need food. But I don't know how to be less attached to them.

I wouldn't stop feeding them, it is part of the cat life, they come and they go. Unless you keep them inside, they will stay, and I think you said you can't.

@dya80dya I understand how you feel. I wonder who is taking them and why? I used to feed the cats where I lived before and had so much trouble with the neighbors. I do not feed the strays here where I live because my neighbors do not understand about animals and their concerns. I just feed my cat. These people do not understand anything about animals.

@dya80dya Maybe it is your dad. Your neighbors are amazing. Mine had dogs and hated cats.

My neighbors feed the cats. Almost all neighbors feed them. No one complained. And the cats stay mostly in our yard. But my father can't stand them. He knows how much I like cats. I wonder if he is able to take them. I cried and the next day a kitten reappeared. I will never understand this.

@Hannihar I can't know for sure if it's my dad. My neighbors have cats and dogs. But they don't hate cats.
