We are still rebounding from when my husband was out of work with his hand injury. In doing so we had to pick and choice which bills got paid first and when. So our electrical bill was hit last to the point it got backed up. Early this week we got a letter from them. I knew we where getting closed. I told my husband and thankfully they have options online to extreme your payments if you pay x amount. Which we did we paid have of the $560 and got another 2 weeks which we will have the second half of that $560 easily by then. So our electrical will stay on since we have an arrangement for payment.
It’s always good to when you get a letter about one fo your bills to call or if they have an online option to go through and extreme your payments if you can or make arrangement. Most companies don’t want you to lose one your utilities and they will work with you if you fallow through.

Our bill was the same as always just that we had like 2 months worth of electricity we hadn’t paid for yet.

I run my A/C pretty much all year long (yay Florida!), so I don't have big summertime spikes in the bill. It does go up a little bit, but not a whole lot since my A/C runs all year long.

That is really good you're able to do a payment plan to have your electricity kept on. Our electricity is monthly, is yours different like bi-monthly?

@ShyBear88 Gotcha, so that wasn't one month's worth of electricity. Our water district here is monthly also, used to be every other month but we live in a different city now.
Very nice you have the payment plan going and they won't be disconnecting the electricity. You got it all planned out. Hope your husband's injury is healing.

@infatuatedbby sadly my husbands work injury is healed as best as it’ll get. He will never get fully functioning he will get some form of disability. He has his appointment with his ortho on Wednesday to see what his disability rating is and form where he can call his caseworker to tell him what it is and determine how much money he will be getting for it.

No ours is monthly our water is quartet so we don’t get the water bills like every 3 months. But electrical is monthly. We fell behind but had been laying here and there it just finally caught up to the point they where like hey you own this amount and need to pay by this date or call and set up to push back. So that is what we did.

Splitting bills among the room partner is good initiative as it does not burden you !

I don’t have living partners I have a husband and he is the solo provider for our house hold of 5. Remember not everyone has roommates or lives with extended family so splitting bills among others isn’t always going to happens. I was talking about if you read above splitting the bill into two portions by talking to the electric company or going on there website and asking for an extension which they will provided if you tell what is going on and work out a payment plan.

I had to do that with my medical bills after my knee surgery. The bills were pretty steep, and they said I had to pay it off within six weeks, which there was no way I could do. So I called them and we talked back and forth and negotiated a fair and affordable monthly payment option. In this day in age where it is so easy for people to just not pay what they owe, companies appreciate and are willing to work with their customers to set up payment options. At the end of the day, the companies just want to know they are going to eventually get their money.
Glad to hear your electricity won't get shut off!

Yes, that’s what I tell people it’s not like they don’t want you to pay because they do and they want you to have what you need. They understand things happen people get sick, lose jobs and such. Some times you get a jerk but if they give you a hard time you ask a supervisor.

@ShyBear88 Yeah, sometimes you have to jump through hoops to get to the right person who is going to take care of you and get you set up on a payment plan that works for you. I had to do that many, many years ago when I was in college and got audited by the IRS. It's like they want to throw the book at you, and all I want to do is resolve the matter. Thankfully, I finally got someone who had common sense, and she was more than happy to work with me to get everything figured out. It turned out I owed money to the IRS, and she helped me get on a payment plan.
