Thoughts On Depression

I was diagnosed with major depression in the early 2000's, although I had been suffering from chronic depression most of my life. I found it difficult to find a medication that helped my mood. I am now on two but wonder why sometimes because I am continually in a rather melancholy mood. I went through six or seven different medications at one time with no help. The side effects were too intense and I quit each one after several months of trial. To be honest I am rather afraid to quit taking either of the two anti-depressants because where might my mood go if I did? I have done some research and some interesting results. In the lower middle area(side view) of the brain, in the brain stem and hypothalamus areas, is what *Brodmann in 1909 labeled "Area 25". This area controls drive, sleep and appetite. All those things that get messed up when we are depressed. (Imagine being depressed for 55+ years with little or no break). Bottom line is this: So I have found the area but how do I pay to have that area stimulated by a psychiatrist? *Korbinian Brodmann was a German neurologist who became famous for his definition of 52 destinct areas of the brain in the early

I am really sorry, I know that depression is a debilitating condition, but most people cannot understand. We still have not good medications to cure depression.

Don't stop taking your medication without talking to your doctor. My depression is from an imbalance in my brain chemistry; and I know what it feels like if I should cut back on my meds. I'm on two meds now and feel great most of the time. No side effects.

I was not understanding what depression was until I got one in my early 50's during quite 3 years. I know now how disabling is this disease, I wish you to find the right medication.

I am very sorry for your depression, it is not easy to cope with it, first of all seek God and try to do new activities, with your family, friends or try to make new friends who invite you to do things that you can enjoy. Cheer up.

I am like you. The side effects are too much for me. Do you have any teeth problems? The dentist said to me that antidepressants ruin our teeth. I am also taking 2 antidepressants.
