This commentary is about Degrassi: the Next Generation, not the original Degrassi Junior High.
James Tiberius Yorke is a Degrassi character played by Ryan Cooley. He is one of my favorite characters. He is known as somewhat of a clown, the school mascot, and he's generally a really decent kid.
In Season 6 of Degrassi, Ryan Cooley left the show to go to college or something. It led to the killing off of his character, who had been a staple of the show since day one.
The way the show's producers set up JT's demise was dramatic and super tragic. The 1st time I saw it, it was very shocking, and still gets me every time.

JT was a great character on the show...I wish they hadn't taken him off that way!
