A Mixed Bag Weekend

This weekend, I watched in horror as people were caught in the catastrophic floods in the Bahama as a result of Hurricane Dorian. These people had nowhere to go and now whole families are missing. It could have been us here in Florida, so I am grateful but sad for them. In the middle of this, I was devastated to learn that my brother decided not to fight his health problems anymore and will be in hospice. Then, I met a woman online who helped me in a search for someone that has gone on for decades. Somehow, we connected instantly. She is an amateur sleuth and she told me where this person was and what she has been doing over the years. I am not sure about this. There are a lot of similarities but some differences also. How was your weekend?

I am so sorry about your brother. Be careful with amateur sleuth, you can end up contacting a person that is not at all the one you are searching for.

@akalinus I only think that when someone insists so much there is something behind. They could be two friends and they have something in mind.

Yeah, I am now having mixed feelings about that. She is so insistent that the person she found is the one I am looking for. I asked the sleuth if she actually knows this person and she said she doesn't. I don't know what to think.

He is at peace with it. He has been fighting cancer for years and there is more surgery to come. He did not give up easily. Cancer is a nasty, ugly, and disgusting foe.

@kobesbuddy It is throat cancer. There was a surgeon lined up to take things out and rebuild new ones but it won't come to that.

It's so sad to see the devastation in the Bahamas and what people are left with now after the storm has passed. I can't even fathom being in such a situation. Sorry to hear about your brother

@akalinus I've been seeing pretty much the same situations on the news. It's heartbreaking to see how trapped people are and I really hope they survived.

I sat there and cried for most of the weekend. I really felt terrible for these people.

I watched a video of one house. They had 19 people in the upstairs part. The house was on stilts. There was water coming in on the second floor. They showed a window where the ocean was crashing against it. I hope the window did not break and I hope the people escaped with their lives. I never saw what happened in the end.

I'm sorry about your brother. Yes, the damage to the Bahamas is awful. It will take a long time for them to recover. It's good you connected with someone online. I hope she helped you find the person you've been looking for. My weekend? Good, I think. I've been working on my book, getting it ready to publish.

@just4him So will this be in a book form or a Kindle book. I like the feel of real books. It is hard to fall asleep cuddling a Kindle.

Fun filled, adrenaline pumped, police and squatters, busted windows and drama. So sorry about your brother. Be careful people will use you when they know you want something like finding someone.

I am wondering about this lady's motives. She kept asking for more information. I did not see about the squatters. Was that in the Bahamas?

@andriaperry do you ever get hurricanes detouring through Alabama? You could be a Bahama mama if you took a vacation there. However, soon might not be a good time.

Why were you in your state capital? Dorian is making a mess in Canada now. It is the storm that won't go away.

My weekend was ok. Sorry about your brother. I'm glad that the hurricane has shifted away from me, but it's also sad that it will hit the coast.

It has weakened somewhat, it was a Category 2 the last I heard. Hope it continues to weaken as it is predicted to wobble over the line onto land.

The hurricane caused immense suffering. And unfortunately, I guess there will be more storms before the season is over.

Yes, we have a couple of more months of the season. One year, it went over and they ran out of names for the storms. They started using the Greek (?) alphabet names, Alpha, Beta, etc.
