6 people die and Trump wants to ban e-cigarettes

I saw the news headline yesterday I think that a 6th person has died from a lung disease associated with e-cigarettes ("vaping"). So today Trump announces that his administration is going to ban all of the flavored ones (except tobacco flavor). Six deaths. Total ban.
How many people have died from REGULAR cigarette usage? Hundreds of thousands. Maybe millions. Is there any talk about banning cigarettes? Not a peep.
How about assault rifles? Pretty sure we have a problem in this country with mass shootings and that MORE than 6 people have died as a result. Any talk about banning them? Nope.
As a bizarre side note--Trump was talking on camera today about the e-cigarette ban and said that Melania was very much in favor of it. He said "she has a son. . . a beautiful child. . . " Um, hello? Barron is HIS son too! It was like he didn't even know that Melania's son was his as well. Very strange.
President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the US Food and Drug Administration would be putting out "some very strong recommendations" regarding the use of flavored e-cigarettes in "a couple of weeks."

Trump is looking for something, to make himself appear as a 'big-shot hero'. In Europe, assault rifles were banned and their problem with violent attacks came to an end. Why doesn't this mean anything to our country's leadership? If assault rifles were no longer manufactured, violence in the U.S. would soon come to a halt.
