I have been wrong for two years!

For two years, only the right channel of my "bedroom stereo" has worked. I did all of the basic testing (switching connections, etc.), and decided that the left channel of my Jolida 102B tube amplifier had gone dead. It didn't matter--the one working (Snell) speaker sounded fine in mono. You can't beat tube sound, even with a mono radio. But yesterday, a solid state (no tubes) 1971 Kenwood KR-5150 stereo receiver was returned to me. It had been worked on in exchange for some speaker refinishing work. I put it into my bedroom system and...the left channel was still dead. This meant that the Jolida was not at fault--I simply had a dead speaker wire in there. I put the Jolida in my main system (did I mention that I love the tube sound) and it sounds fine there. Now I have to find my wire stripper and make a new speaker cable for the bedroom system. I am sure this is fascinating to mot MyLotters. I suppose the lesson to be learned is that even an "expert" can draw the wrong conclusion sometimes. I'll attach a picture of the Jolida 102B atop my conrad-johnson MF-80. TheJolida is the power behind my main system right now. The MF-80 (solid state) is resting.

Uh....what language is that you're speaking? I see that JJ is fluent in whatever it is.

@wolfgirl569 We'll see if new speaker wire fixes the problem. The gremlins took my wire clippers. I can't make a new speaker wire until I find them.

I feel like a dummy for not fully testing the speaker wire earlier.

The main system sounds great. We'll see if I can fix the bedroom system with a wire swap.

My Dad and brother were always into electronics. My dad had a tv and appliance store many years ago. He worked on computers all of his life. My brother did the same. He was the bio-med manager at a large hospital.

Vince lost his wire strippers a few weeks ago and couldn't find them anywhere. When we emptied the caravan to take it to the repairers, we found them under the mattress. They'd slipped under when he was installing the diesel heater.
