Hello to all of my friends here at MyLot. I have not posted in several days so I wanted to log in and let you all know that I am alive and well. I spent the day Saturday getting ready for this little trip that I will call the "Girl's Trip." It is just my mom, one of my daughters and me. We are on the Gulf Coast and doing some relaxing. My hubby is at home doing a bit of remodeling to the hall bathroom to make it more handicapped friendly for my mother. So far we are just relaxing and enjoying a new environment. The beach is right across the street and we have a great view of it. We can sit out on our patio and watch the waves. Photo Credit: Pixabay, public domain

Sounds like the ideal place to be. I haven’t been around much myself. Enjoy!

It's okay but I'd rather be on a real vacation.

This is not really a vacation. I'm getting my mom out of the house so my hubby can work on the hall bathroom. Benefits all of us. We don't have to listen to any cursing that may happen

@kareng that is a good idea that you leave your husband alone working at home. Yes, I can understand that sounds of cursing is annoying. Better not to hear it.

@thelme55 The plumbing was installed all wrong in that bathroom. Pipes are at a tilt instead of straight coming up to toilet. All of that has been replaced. Next is reinforcing some support beams which were spaced too far apart. Then we can proceed with getting floor back in and new flooring :) And no more plumbing problems yay.

I am glad you are fine, good idea to make the bathroom easier to use for your mother.

So jealous! I want to be at the beach too! I hope you are having a great time. Don't forget the sunscreen! We don't want you to get all sunburned and look like an Alabama fan! haha

Haha on AL fan. Never, never, never. My hubby was looking at land for sale in AL. I told him I was not moving to AL. He asked why and I said that I'll never be an AL fan. I didn't go down to the beach. Flesh-eating bacteria were found and contacted by a lady over the summer there so we just laid out by the pool.

@kareng I heard about the flesh-eating bacteria story. I think there were several of them along the Florida coast as well during the summer. All on the Gulf side of the state. Kind of sucks that the Gulf of Mexico just seems to be turning into a giant cesspool of pollution and bacteria.

It was nice and I would have loved to have stayed longer but four nights was all that was available on the condo. I guess we could have switched locations but all is good.

@andriaperry The Gulf water is a bit different from the nice and clean ocean water :) That mixture of brackish and salt isn't always pretty. Also, no swimming for us since one person contacted the flesh-eating bacteria in that area over the summer. I'd rather play is safe.

I hope that you will have a wonderful time at the Gulf Coast. My son is disabled and we had a Disabled Facilities Grant to put in a new wider door. They gave us a new wet room that is wheelchair accessible. They also let us have a new boiler.

It sounds like you had a great time. I would love to live on the beach. I stayed at a little cottage on a lake in NY state once and listened to the waves lap on the shore. It is so soothing

Yes, that would be very nice. I would want to be closer to the east though if along the Gulf Coast with more saltwater. The brackish water (mixed fresh and salt) is not always refreshing.

@kareng I think brackish water probably smells bad, or am I wrong? What kind of things live in it?
