Day 48
Promise 53
Leviticus 18:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your God.
3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God.
5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD. (KJV)
Everyone has rules they need to follow. If they disobey those rules, they pay the consequences of their actions.
God gave Moses many laws, rules, they were to follow and obey for every area of their lives. God promised Moses that if the people obeyed Him, and walked in His ordinances and statutes, he would live in them.
When you do something many times, it becomes second nature to you. It becomes part of you. It is your life and you would not consider doing anything else. It doesn’t matter whether what you do is good or bad, if it’s part of your nature, it is part of you.
You can look around you and see the good and bad people do and you know whether it is their nature to do so.
God knew the nature of His people wasn’t what it should be and gave them the commandments, laws, and statutes to change them from the evil they knew in Egypt, to the good they would become as His children.
As Christians, you were evil before you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. You might not think so, you might even argue that you lived a good life and never did anything wrong. However, even good lives, if they aren’t lived for Jesus Christ are evil, and there is one punishment for evil, separation from God for eternity.
When you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, you make a covenant with God to change your lifestyle, to live for God and not live after the ways of the world. It’s not easy. Satan puts many temptations in front of you.
God knows you will sin, and made a way for you through Jesus’ shed blood, so that when you sin, you can confess it and God will cleanse you from your sin, and you will be guiltless before God. That is living in the ways of God and not in the ways of the world.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, ‘There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none who understands, there is none who seeks after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. (KJV)
Romans 5:8 But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV)
God made a way for you and when you follow God’s ways, you will walk in Him all the days of your lives. People will know you are Christians by the way you live.
John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (KJV)
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV)
Do people know you are a Christian?
Let’s pray: Father, let my love for You be seen in those I see every day at work, in my social life, and those I meet only once and never see again. Let me follow You in everything You tell me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
