Scamming has begun

Philippines

Last weekend some old guy claim to be garbage truck driver asking for money for his son. Sadly, it was grandma who answered it who has trouble hearing him. Glad I was able to sent the guy away. Though I told him to come back later, he never came back. Anyways, I'm sure there's going to be more begging on the public transport with their envelops. Sure, this is the season of giving but also people abuse it. Have a nice day

I had seen in the news about a senior citizen who got scammed (budol budol) in her own house. I think they got P220,000 from her. I had seen the CCTV footage, and it happened about three months ago, if I am not mistaken, but until now they haven't caught those two who scammed the old lady. You might as well inform your grandma about it.

Hello @brokenbee I feel sad for that old lady, and this is why we got more dogs last year.

@Letranknight2015 Yes... But upon viewing the CCTV footage, it's as if there was an inside job. The helpers seem uneasy and looked like one served as a lookout. I may be wrong but that's how I see it.

Yeah to me that is a system problem fix it right and we can hold that to a minimum. Older people are hard to read because most likely productive members of society at one time. Why I think our systems are becoming so sad. You threw out people that one time made our nations great. It so makes me so upset.

Hello @crossbones27 To be honest with you not sure if he really was hard to read. He was really more like some one who wants a buck.

Yeah sad that nowadays it is hard to separate the real from the fake ones and this schemes does exist in our days. Some may be legit but I think many may come to PCSO than beg from house to house which makes them more doubtful if they are legit or not.

@Letranknight2015 Although there are some that are legit in their claims but they should start asking for the DSWD first before asking from everybody.

I always warn the kids, whenever they’re here, to not open the door for someone they don’t know while I’m sleeping. As much as we would like to help but we’ll never know.
