Our granddaughter and her boyfriend are going to a wedding in Michigan this weekend and she asked if we would stay at her apartment and watch Winnie, her Maltipoo.
Of course we said yes. We're looking forward to seeing her, then they'll take us out to dinner when they get back.
Have you ever babysat a tiny diva? This dog (he doesn't know he's a dog and I'm not sure he knows he's a male) is more spoiled than most children in the US. Our granddaughter has no children, so Winnie is her baby.
The funny thing is that Winnie doesn't like my husband at all. We have no idea why. He's never mistreated that fuzzy mop, but Winnie won't even look at him!
We'll get to do some shopping while we're in Charlotte and plan to meet some friends from that area for supper Friday night. So it should be fun. Or interesting with Winnie, anyway.

Little dogs tend to be very temperamental, we have two. I just love these little fur balls though and I am tempted to try to find another one for us, I like having three.

@1creekgirl I have a pomme-pek (pekinese pomeranian) and Roscoe is anyone's guess some type of terrier with something else thrown in.

This is the first time I have heard on dog-sitting while his master is away for a vacation or whatever .

A lot of people stay with pets while the owner is away. Some pets stay in a kennel.

We always had to have someone dog sit for us as well as cat sit. This is not a new thing at all. Maybe where you are from it might sound strange but here in the states it has been going on for many years. My daughter also gets someone to sit her parrot when she is away along with her cats.

@1creekgirl Usually the Golden Retrievers are sweet dogs, exuberant, but sweet.

Our daughter has a Golden Retriever and he's a very sweet, but rambunctious dog.

Yes I have had to have my daughters dog from time to time. I do not mind it to be honest she is a tiny pomeranian although slightly bigger than the little pom pom dogs. I call her a little rat. She loves me which is more than can be said for Devil child!

We're enjoying most of it. Our granddaughter is very health conscious, so no goodies in the apartment. Although she did bake a yummy chocolate chess pie. Met some friends last night for dinner after some shopping, but I never want to live and drive in a big city!

@1creekgirl At least she left you a yummy pie! lol
Shopping and dinner with friends sound like a wonderful escape.
I must agree that living in a big city is not for everyone. Driving is even worse! We’re going into Manhattan tomorrow to visit our son, his wife, and the grandkids. Say a little prayer that we find a parking spot on the street.

I babysat a siamese cat before and that was a real experience. I am glad you like the dog. That is understandable when people have pets and no children. The pets are very much like their children. Maybe your husband reminds Winnie of someone. That must be hard to babysit him when he does not like your husband. Enjoy yourselves and hope no problem with Winnie.

how fortunate that y'all're able to do such. i confess that my sweet momma babysits my pup when i've gotta be gone. big red prefers to stay here, ms. jade goes 'nto massive panic 'ttacks. she 'twas most upset yesterday coz i 'twas not able to fetch her when we returned 'fter a long, 'xhaustin' (physically 'n mentally) day'n texas (doc 'ppointment...). by the time we'd gotten home the full 'ffects 'f the barometric pressure change 'd made me drivin' not safe. could barely make the stairs'n the porch to get'n the house. (no pity/sympathy, 'tis been this way fer years - jest frustratin')
the hubs brought her home 'n she shunned me the rest 'f the eve. refused to sleep next to my bed. took 'til tuesday eve fer her to e'en warm to me. delighted the hubs's she usually blows him off, e'en though she's 'his' bird pup.
some critters 've jest their own ideas 'bout folks. sure hope mr. winnie warms to yer hubs o'er the weekend. 've a great time!

Hope you've recovered from your trip. Animals can be strange, can't they? Maybe Winnie will take to my husband this weekend.

Spending the weekend dog sitting sounds like fun and I'm sure Winnie will enjoy your attention. It's funny that he isn't fond of your husband but dogs have quirks that are unexplainable.

We all laugh about it. He did joke one time about putting Winnie out in the dog pen, but surely Winnie didn't understand what he said!
