Hard to Collect Debts

Now that we are relying on my husband's monthly pension, I thought of going after people who borrowed money from us.
They failed to show up or pay their debts, in spite of us persuading them to pay; even on an installment basis to make it easier for them. We didn't charge any interest; even a centavo, yet they refused to pay what they had borrowed for so many years now.
It is really hard to be so kind to people who shed tears while persuading us to lend them our heard-earned money. Now we need it most.
Do you also have such an experience?

One of the hardest things to do in this planet... collecting payment of debts. When they needed money they are the kindest people, when payment come they are the hardest to find. So many post in Facebook regarding this matter.

It is true, now I pity ourselves for being so kind to them, during those days that they needed it; now we need it and they were nowhere to be found!

These kind of debts are what Filipinos call " lista sa hanging" ( list or write it in the wind) , very hard to collect and very seldom paid by very ungrateful people
I'm very sorry hope they find the heart and conscience to pay you back.

@acelawrites it's not about knowing if you need it or not, it's all about knowing their obligations and be responsible to pay you back, I hate such kind of people

Yes, am so angry with them now; they abused our kindness. They did not know we needed it.

@acelawrites Oh I see. Anyway you'll have to be more patience when relatives are concerned since you also know their situation if they can pay or not.

Most of them were relatives; they always thought we have so much money.

@acelawrites I know how they do, they act like they would die if you do not give them money and then they do not even say thank you.

It's such a pity thing; when they needed it, they begged in tears for us to lend them; but after years, they are nowhere to be found!

@acelawrites I hope so too. It is very unfair for them to borrow money and not return it.

Am just praying that their conscience strike them and pay us; even not the full amount we lent them.

Then don't bother lending money anymore if they're not going to pay. I admit I feel guilty that there are still some debts we haven't paid. Like the amount we owe from the hard ware when we got materials from building the commercial space. My mom had almost that kind of problem with people asking for money, but she never tells me how she dealt with them.

I think you have the reason why you did not pay that hardware store. It is really hard to persuade borrowers to pay.

folks'll suck ya dry if'n ya let 'em, with no care 't all to the hardships ya helpin' 'em may bring ya. they jest don't care. i quit loanin' funds years 'go. will pay a necessity bill fer 'em (electric/water - no phones, cable t.v., etc), e'en 'd go to the grocery store'n buy 'em a bill 'f groceries ('gain, essentials). once ya do that, ya can still kiss those funds good-bye. they'll ne'er e'en offer to repay. the 'nly consolation bein' ya know the funds'd not been squandered'n 'wants' 'nstead 'f 'needs'.

Yes, we have so many bills to pay now; also for health maintenance. They borrowed and yet did not have the conscience to pay!

@acelawrites I’m sure it is. I can’t believe that no one will return the money they borrowed from you.
