We finally decided that maybe we were just too hard on our bread makers so we decided to opt for a stand alone mixer instead. I always wanted one so that I could just hit the switch when I was mixing a cake and not have to hold on to the mixer lol. I have made enough of a mess with flying batter and finally I won't have to worry about it anymore. ;)
About the hand mixer in case you are wondering. I received it for a shower present 40 some years ago and it's still going strong so I am going to have to keep it for sentimental reasons. Aunt Dorothy... you gave really good presents lol!!
What is the oldest appliance that is still going strong in your house??

hmm, prolly the hand mixer here, too. 'tis a 1959 model that 'twas my mamaw's. 'tis a workhorse. the big freezer 'tis 'bout 40 yrs, the fridge comin' close to 30....i know, neither'd be energy efficient, but if'n they aint broke they'll not be replaced.
congrats'n yer new stand mixer :) i've one the aunt tossed my way, rarely gets used 'xcept to make butter.

You make your own butter... that sounds like fun! The old models seem to have lasting power that is for sure. I keep waiting for our blender to conk out so I can have one to make smoothies and fancy drinks. It refuses!!

@Hate2Iron yes ma'am, love homemade butter :) takes a while, but the kitchenaide makes purty short work 'f such. 'tis fun if'n ya go back a few years (cough). i'd one granny with a churn'n the porch 'n i'd make certain i 'twas 1st'un 'wake'n out the door jest so i could churn 't. very soothin' doin' such's the sun rises. my other granny'd not a churn 'n she'd pass out jars with cream to 's young'uns 'n we'd shake such 'til we thought our lil arms'd jest plum fall off, lol.
ya can't make smoothies'n such with yers? i confess to've bought a vitamix (if'n yer lookin' fer ya one'f those, go to their website 's they've refurbs with full warranties way cheaper) coz my nutrition 'nsisted i needed one. 'tis great fer makin' sorbet's, smoothies 'n e'en cookin' soups. still use the ol' blender though, that 'twas bought'n 1969, lol. used to make some might fine margaritas with 't :)

Thank you, I realize that also the "espresso machine" is the same we bought when we married.

If you are talking about bread makers... I would save your money. They break way too easily!

@Hate2Iron oh so the best way to make bread is the traditional way?
your breadmaker is a collector's item already and yet it is still functioning.

We keep moving so the last one we were quite happy to see the end of. The one that came with this house... we don't like much. We need a bigger one. I think that's on the list for next year!!

I'm starting to think you are right. They want them to break right on schedule!!
