References for Contractors

Since we started the home repair project, I have been using the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website to pick contractors. I have picked only the contractors with an A+ rating and preferably those that are BBB Accredited. I don't like using websites like Angie's List, etc., because I question the validity of the information. My husband was talking to the roofer last night; and he suggested that a better way to go was to use Google.??? I found a listing for Google My Business; but I was unable to find business reviews.
