What happened to that bridge?

Philippines

It really baffles how such bridge can actually fall off and gave in like that. It didn't seem like old to me. But look at it closer I noticed the cable gave in before it collapse. I wonder why they didn't put a support under it. Looks like it's back to the drawing board and make a better bridge. Some people were injured in this tragedy. The truck almost made it though.

Saw this yesterday how awful and they reckon it was due to the very strong winds that had happened there recently. Wear and tear I call it.

@Letranknight2015 You would think that they would have been checking the bridge for any signs of strain would´nt you I suppose they just plain forgot about it.

It's structural engineering and design fault, the news made me nervous because my eldest son's ship anchored just a couple of weeks ago in Taiwan.

@Letranknight2015 yes. I think it’s a suspension bridge. You know, whenever we drive through skyway, i feel so paranoid it may collapse.

Looks like it was a suspension bridge, allowing boats unhindered passage under it.

Hello @Alexandoy Well, that could be another possibility, the bridge isn't that old so something really went wrong with the design.
