Some people have it. Some people don’t. My husband is one of the lucky ones. He always finds a parking space no matter what large city or small town we happen to be in. When we went to visit our son and his family in New York City last weekend, it was such a sunny and beautifully warm day. My husband insisted we take our convertible. For sure I thought he’d park it in a garage for protection. But, nope! He saw a large van pull out of a parking space as we approached, and immediately slipped into the large, vacant space. All we had to do was walk up the street to our son’s co-op. Now that was pure luck and my husband has it! He saved us a good $100. The photo was taken by a professional photographer on a boat trip with friends in the early summer. I know it has nothing to do with my topic, but had to share it!

@DianneN You know what, I started praying for good luck, good timing and being at the right place at the right time. I usually don't go to the library on Sat. Well, I went recently, got cake from the celebration of the library's birthday celebration! I get to catch the bus just in the nick of time too! It works.

I have that luck most of the time I park but not always- Or I just seem to go into a bank and am able to go right up in the line and then in a few minutes a crowd forms behind me--haha! That's the only luck I have. I love that picture as the boat looks so neat like a tall ship!

I have a fairly successful parking strategy. In large ( normally full ) car parks, while others are driving around frantically looking for empty spaces I people watch. I identify someone heading back to their car and follow them. Most of the time they are leaving and I get their space. Occasionally they're just heading back to pick up a coat or something, which is a bit frustrating but there's always another leaver along soon. Worked for me on Sunday in a manically busy car park in the Lake District.
