Brown Apricots?

So, I bought some dried apricots the other day since they are good for you, and as an added bonus 50 percent off! Imagine my shock when I opened the package and saw they were brown! What the heck? They looked like prunes. Every apricot I have seen, fresh, dried or otherwise has always been orange. These just don't really look that appealing..however, on the front of the package the are brown..so I guess that is how they are supposed to look..but I have never seen brown apricots. They do taste like apricots..but perhaps the "brown look" is the reason no one bought them. Have you bought something that was one way in your mind and another in the container?

I've noticed that when shopping for organic produce it often looks very different from chemically treated produce.

I don't make it a practice to shop for organics that often. I guess I should pay more attention.

@rebelann Yes, but they cost quite a bit more as well. Some foods are great to eat organic but not all. There are several articles on this.

Yes, I think they are just dried organic ones. I think it even says that on the package.

What makes you think I have been taken for a ride? Apparently these are the way organic ones look. Besides the package was cheap, not worth complaining about.

I have never seen any either that weren't orange. Brown ones don't sound very appealing.

Yikes, but organic apricots are dark. I stopped eating farm raised salmon once I found out they were gray and dyed orangey pink. I only eat wild salmon now.

I try to buy Wild Salmon when I can. Most of that farm raised fish is not really that great for you, other than being low in calories.

@DianneN Yes, it is. I like fish, but honestly I think I prefer vegetarian options.

@snowy22315 All fish is pretty low calorie wise compared to meat.

They turn brown when they are "too old", bring them back.

Our dried apricots can vary quite significantly in their colour. Sometimes the browner ones are very dried whereas the orange ones are more juicy.
