Pears Vs Apples / myLot

Okay, when I was a kid, a pear had a distinctive taste compared to an apple. Now, when I eat a pear, it tastes no different than an apple. Is it just me, or do the two fruits have distinctive tastes, or have they been genetically engineered to taste the same?

All fruits have the same taste, unless you have a tree in your garden. Even the plum and the peaches taste the same as apples and pears now.

I always thought apricots and peaches tasted the same, I haven't tried a plum. At least somebody else is noticing.

@jprtist Not only the fruits, also the vegetables are tasteless. They now grow most things in water instead of soil. Easy and clean to grow, but tasteless.

I can still tell the difference because the pear feels sharp on the tongue.

if the two, i prefer pears but then some of them are a bit sour and i have sensitive teeth.

Even though I also think something must be going on with the crops because I taste the difference from some years ago...both apples and pears do taste differently
