An Antique Teapot from Okinawa

At the end of WWII, my father was stationed for one year on Okinawa. At times he would walk along the shoreline and pick up different relics to bring back home. This is a teapot that Dad found one day and he saved it as a gift, for his wife. After Mom passed away in 2013, I ended up with this cute little teapot:) Photo:Mine

Keep that teapot as a family heirloom. Someday the next generations might find a genie, waheehee.

What a treasure for you to have to remember your dad with! My husband was in Okinawa for a while when he was in the Navy in the 60s.

@kobesbuddy Maybe you could take it to an antique store just for fun, and see if they have any ideas.

I hope it does not contain ore and that you can clean it from the inside. Maybe you can make some tea in it, and have a cup of tea. The colours are nice. Blue, white and gold. Maybe you can find who made this pot, maybe it has a value as an antique...googling for "okinawa teapot" brings some results. I choose photos, and some photos has a similar style of your pot: ceramic and with similar gold colour.

Dad was only 28 years old at the time. A farm boy who'd never been away from home, living on the other side of the world!
