Day 71 Promise 100 Deuteronomy 29:18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood; 19 And it come to pass, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst: 20 The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven. People think they can do and say anything because they are of the mistaken notion, they have the right. They stand on the premise of the freedom of speech. However, what about the freedoms of the other person? Don’t they have the right to freedom from bullies who try to manipulate their way through life? Moses told the people, if they thought they could do anything they wanted without consequence, God would blot their name from under heaven. This must be one of the scariest scriptures. No one wants God to shun them and live without hope of salvation. Yet, that is God’s promise if you lift yourself up and live outside moral integrity. It’s what happened to Lucifer when he lifted himself up against God. Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most-High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. 16 They who see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, ‘Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; 17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?’ 18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, everyone in his own house. 19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those who are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcass trodden under feet. 20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned. Jesus told His disciples He was present when God cast Lucifer from heaven. Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. (KJV) If God cast Lucifer from His presence because of the rebellion he caused with the imagination of his heart, consider God will do the same to anyone who considers themselves better than God and has no respect to what scripture says. God will blot the person’s name out of His book if he rises up against Him. As Christians, you too can have your names blotted from God’s book and the Lamb’s Book of Life. Many Christians believe once saved, always saved giving them the license to do and say whatever they want. That’s not what Scripture says. Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. (KJV) You don’t want your name blotted out of God’s book or the Book of Life. Consider your actions and words and let God rule your life and not your imagination which leads to eternal separation from God. Let’s pray: Father, keep me from evil imaginations that can take me out of Your love and blot my name from Your book and the Lamb’s Book of Life. Help me remain constant in You and Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 13 October 2019 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay. I will accept only topic-related comments.

I lost my faith. I received the opposite of what I asked for.

You didn't lose your faith. You never had any. We can't make demands of God. He knows what is best for us. If we always got what we asked for, what kind of God would He be? Do you give your children everything they ask for? Or if you're not married, do your parents give you everything you asked for? That's unreasonable. Trust God to know what's best for you and if you don't get what you want, He has something better in mind for you. I hope you're having a good day.

This has me perplexed...I know many who have fallen away from God but changed and fell in love with Him again. Their fire for God was amazing once they returned to Him.

This type of falling away has to do with the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Those people you know were most likely backslid and didn't reject Jesus. I knew a man once who did just that. He had come out of the Muslim religion and embraced God, was an elder in the church, then suddenly turned his back on Him and went back to Islam.
