Recurring Dreams

@andriaperry gave me the idea to discuss my dreams; so I thought I would share them with you. I get some really strange dreams; but there are several that keep recurring. I have very vivid dreams, I dream in color; and all 5 senses are active during my dreams...and I usually remember them. One that I have about 50% of the time is the dream that I'm still working. I'm sure I miss working; but I don't miss the people and the drama in the office. Last night I dreamed that my sister-in-law was working with me. We are not on good terms; and I haven't seen her in 20 years. These are different than the work dreams described below because they aren't really stressful. Another recurring dream is that my mother-in-law (who has since passed) is having a huge party; and the house is overflowing with people. The other dream that I have quite often, and this one is disturbing to me, is one in which I have a short distance home or to work; but I can't find my way there. I keep walking until I notice that the road signs show that I'm in another town or city. I've traveled this route hundreds of times; but I always seem to take a wrong turn and end up in the wrong area completely. Then I have a bunch of dreams in which I'm in school or work; and I don't know what my next class is, or what my locker combination is or a work-related project that seems insurmountable...When I wake up from these dreams I'm always thankful that they're not real because they are very stressful. Do you have any recurring dreams? Photo Credit: Pixabay

No I don't and I wish I could dream about Dustin. I have maybe twice since I lost him. Strange how you dream in color.

Dreams of those that have passed can be very comforting.

@CarolDM You could be dreaming and not remembering your dreams. My husband is like that.

I used to have one when I was a child that continued through my teen years and even into adulthood. I haven't had it in a long time. And if it returns, I'm going to be mad at you @LindaOH (j/k) I'll do a post on it soon!!

Don't be mad at me! I had a nightmare while I was working at this place (loonnngg story); and I had it every night to the point that I was afraid to fall asleep. Fortunately my mind has now blocked it; and I don't remember it.

@LindaOHio I'm glad your mind has it blocked. I'd be afraid to go back to work there. I would take that one as an omen for a new job!! I was just joking, that's why I put the j/k in.

@andriaperry I sometimes wish I did. But after what I dreamed 20 years ago coming true I think I subconsciously blocked them.

@wolfgirl569 I had a recurring nightmare when I worked at this one place. I've blocked that one as well. Thank goodness I can't remember it because I was afraid to go to sleep.

I used to have more than I do now, I bought a stone from Brenda, she does Reiki, and this helped so much. When I recharge it (with moonlight) I have no bad dreams at all. Get in touch with @whiteream here or on facebook, she can help you. I trust her 100%

I remember when my dad retired. For five years after retirement, he still went into his office every day (professor emeritus gets an office)! One day he called me from his office for some help. I said "dad your retired, relax! Get away from the University." He said "I can't" he did slow down a few years later.

As much as I enjoy not having to live by an alarm clock, etc., I must still really miss working.

@LindaOHio it becomes a part of us. I haven't taught school in many years. I still miss hanging out with kids!

I only have random dreams. Maybe the trip we had helped me cope up with stress.

Interesting discussion topic. What do recurring dreams mean? I wonder I have one where I am always on a train without a valid ticket. I am afraid of getting caught by an inspector. I have not done this deliberately to cheat the railways, but somehow, I have forgotten to bring it (my ticket) with me, on my trip. In life itself, certain forms of training incur/require repetition, and so in a dream, a reoccurring dream theme, often can be reinforcing some theme, that is not yet understood properly. My dream about not having a ticket on the journey of life is related to my not finding my life purpose as yet. I have been searching for it for a long time, and I am still hoping to find it one day. Unfortunately, until then I sort of feel that I am largely just wasting life, my life, by my not living by my theme, mission or purpose, whatever that is, and I feel that I am an impostor, or a stowaway without a ticket, in this journey, or game of life.

It's interesting that you are able to figure out what your dreams mean.

@LindaOHio Yes, sometimes, I can figure out a meaning for my dreams, and I think that the person dreaming the dream is usually the best-placed person, who can interpret properly their own dreams

I don't have recurring dreams, but recurring places that don't exist in real life. I have an entirely fictitional campground that turns up often.
