This is how much more I anticipate spending on Soaps

As you may recall from previous discussions, I intend on making my friends some soap as gifts. I may also get them something non-soap related, but that's not the point of this discussion. I want to keep this discussion as brief as possible so I won't be going into much detail. I've spent $60.00 or so already. I intend to spend another $40.00 or so dollars for the rest of the things I need. What I have already: 2 lbs of Melt and Pour Soap Base (I need another base) Two soap cutters (one wavy, one straight) 42 ounce mold (for making soap loaf) 3 ounces of Fragrance Oil (Will probably get a different kind of FO) Soap Blender (Just a little battery operated cocktail mixer) Rubbing Alcohol (gets rid of bubbles on soap and helps adhere soap to each other) Spray Bottle (for aforementioned alcohol) Containers (to pour the soap in to melt) What I need Fragrance Oil (I like what I have but don't think my friends will) 2 lbs Soap Base (what I have isn't going to be enough) Mica (this is the colorant for the soap) Glitter (Optional, but will probably get it) Infrared Thermometer (so that I don't have to put my wax thermometer into the soap base) Whatever I am going to package / wrap it in. So round about $100.00 for this project sounds about right. I am buying my soap base from a different company this time and hope I won't have the same $15.00 minimum issue I had with the last company. Do you know how much you intend to spend on gifts? This isn't even counting in other people I need to buy for

For me it’s too much. Sometimes I go for most cheaper one of course something that can be useful. Last year, I bought them head set mini pouch and cute socks just about $12.

I tend to only be able to spend about $20.00 per person. This year I started earlier which means I can spend more. I know I will get more money in the month of November than I usually do. I'm also trying to earn a little more here on mylot to help me mid month.

@JustBhem Very true. We can only work with what we have.

Well, I think that this year I am going to spend nothing at all. We will be only my husband and I. We do not exchange gifts anymore, as we buy what we need when we need things.

Oh I see. That is a good thing to do. Its saves money for things you want to do. A lot of people go into debt because of Christmas Shopping each year. Do you still exchange gifts at Birthdays?

@LadyDuck Spending time with the people we love is really the best gift of all in my opinion.

@ScribbledAdNauseum No, we do not exchange gifts, at most he buys for me a book that he knows I wanted and I do the same for him. We prefer to have a dinner together in a nice restaurant, so I do not cook and we can stay together talking.

That's a lot of money to spend on gifts but it may be a lot less then you usually spend.

Nah, it's a lot more than I usually spend. However, it's more of a "passion project" for me so I don't mind. The amount the loaf will make will be enough to give as gifts for others and keep for myself as well.

I don't have that kind of money to spend on gifts, I usually bargain hunt and find good gifts for less.

This was a "passion project" for me as well so I don't mind. I bought some stuff this month and will buy some more next. I am using Rakuten where I can so that I am getting some cash back.

@Carmelanirel2 Yep. I am also justifying it because I figure what I don't gift will be used for myself and the family. So it's a win / win for me.
