I can finally wear regular shoes again

Today my niece and I built a fort in the living room. We used an old bed sheet and four of the dining room chairs. We read some books under it and other things. My neck started giving me sharp stabs of pain from having my head cricked sideways under the sheet. She fell asleep right before lunch so I sat next to her and caught up on notifications here and worked on a swago ncrave board on Swagbucks. Her mother picked her up about 2:30 and she was still asleep. After she left I got ready to leave the house. I made the 40 minute drive to the hospital for my recheck with the doctor who did my toe surgery. He said the xrays I had done last week were good and that my toe is slightly swollen and looks really good and how it should be after 4 weeks of healing. I still have to wrap it with koban tape and gauze for two more weeks but I can wear my regular shoes and boots now. I wore my shoes and it was not comfortable at all and not entirely pain free but I prefer it to having to wear the big clunky walking boot they gave me after the surgery. I wrapped my sons presents before bed as you can see in the photo. He will be 12 tomorrow.

I'm glad your toe is doing well and you don't need the boot anymore. It sounds like you had a good day with your niece in the manmade fort. Happy Birthday to your son.

@shaggin That sounds really cool building a fort. Not good about your neck pain though. So glad you got good news and that your toe is healing. So glad you can wear regular shoes and boots again. Congrats to your son turning 12.

@Hannihar I just told her once my neck started hurting that she and the dog can still play in the fort but I had to stop. The doctor pulled dry skin off my toe. It hurt he should have just left it. It'll come off oh it's on eventually in the shower while I wash it.

@Hannihar feels fine . I tried wearing my slippers but it’s to snug with the bandage and gauze on so I will wait two weeks until those come off.

@shaggin That is good you told her. I can imagine how it must have hurt when he pulled dry skin off your toe. How is your toe now?

@LadyDuck yes he loved his gifts except he didn't want the hazelnut spread filled m&ms. His sister was excited to have them since he didn't want them.

@DianneN I am quite hyper so walking around is a bit slow for me. Hobbling around limping with the boot was even worse. I look forward to being able to run to where I want to in a few weeks. The dog and my niece loved the fort. My niece had me take photos of her in it make silly faces she said were spooky.

@Happy2BeMe I always set a budget how much I spend per kid. I got lucky and found one toy $20 cheaper on Walmart then Amazon. Then two toys on sale at Amazon for $2 each. He didn't sleep good so hopefully he won't be to terribly tired today.

@Letranknight2015 I always set a budget how much I spend per child. I used all my Amazon e-giftcards I earned online towards all of his presents except one I spent $20 and three candy bars.

Happy Birthday to your son. I always wear my comfy Crocs perhaps a pair of crocs would be good for you. I wear them in the house and when I go out,

@RasmaSandra my mom suggested that too. It's too chilly here to wear them outside now though unfortunately.

I think I missed something. What was the cause of the surgery for the toe?

@Alexandoy I had a hammer toe the doctor was correcting. The to curled under so I'd be walking on the nail part. It would build up a painful corn that I had to have the doctor dig out every 6 months or so. This surgery straightened my toe.

@andriaperry I used to make them all the time as a kid then with my kids and I thought to do it with my niece today. She and the dog loved it.
