Tropical Storm Nestor

Tropical Storm Nestor is in the Gulf of Mexico and gained strength yesterday and earned his name. I have been watching this storm for about a week now. At first the local weatherpeople said it would be no threat to us. I'm thinking in the back of my mind that they just jinxed us. Well they almost did. But this storm did take a northern turn and also eastern turn. This means it will just clip the Louisiana coastline brining some heavy rain. The storm will affect Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. These states will also catch drenching rains and could experience some flooding in low lying areas. If you are in this storm's path, plan for some flash flooding, possible electricity outages and stock up on sandwich makings, snacks and drinking water. And please be safe! Tropical storms can be as bad as hurricanes. They cause a lot of rainfall and could stall in one place bringing double the rain you would originally get. This is my pubic service announcement for today. (I tried to post this one last night but it got zapped for some reason.) Photo: NOAA, public domain

We are supposed to get rain and wind and maybe a little twister or two. Hope they are wrong.

@rebelann Flooding is why I live on a hill now out in the country and not in East Baton Rouge Parish anymore. Our home there has flooded twice.

As long as you didn't get any flooding @kareng I remember what happened after Harvey hit Houston.

I’m trying to figure out who’s ever been named Nector. Isn’t that a cholesterol medicine? Seriously, I was watching coverage online last night. Quite scary.

No clue on the cholesterol medicine. Ha! It was bad and was big. We got lucky and missed all the heavy stuff and no tornadoes!

I picked the wrong weekend to go camping! But we're making the best of a bad situation. Still having fun, even in all this rain and wind!

@kareng We listened to the Gator game on the radio, so it wasn't too bad at all not being in front of the TV to watch it. We don't play Alabama this year, unless we meet up with them in the SEC championship. But I'm sure your team might have something to say about that! Who do you play this weekend? We have a bye week before playing Georgia in two weeks.

My area was in a pocket, the bad was both east and west. It didn't turn just the way it came though here. We have another one coming through Friday. Enough is enough!
